Arsenal’s injury situation is gradually improving as several names return to fitness.

The Gunners will travel to Newcastle on Saturday for an early game as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after consecutive winless games.

But Mikel Arteta will be delighted as his side won 3-0 in their midweek Carabao Cup meeting with Preston North End in a game where goals came from Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri and Kai Havertz.

They drew 2-2 with Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend where Ben White looked to struggle late in the game. He is now a doubt for this weekend’s trip to Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta said after the Preston game: “He struggled at the end of the game [Liverpool] match, so he is not available for tonight’s match.”
