Related Figures Isak, Odegaard and Zubimendi Expected to Get Important Jobs at Arsenal

Former Real Sociedad sporting director Roberto Olabe is the person most likely to replace Edu at Arsenal.

The Gunners were shocked in November after sporting director Edu announced he would be leaving the Emirates after four years in charge of Arsenal’s transfer affairs.

He was responsible for bringing in several of the Gunners’ top players, including Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, William Lintasa and Gabriel. However, the club is still looking for a replacement.

Several possible new Sporting Directors have been recruited and Chris Wheatley revealed the likes of Monaco’s Thiago Scuro, Bayer Leverkusen’s Simon Rolfes and Roberto Olabe, the latter of whom joined Real Sociedad.

According to Daily Telegraph Football Reporter Sam Dean, Olabe is one of the leading candidates for the job with connections to several Arsenal players and transfer targets.

He said in X: “Roberto Olabe, is considered as one of the potential candidates for the position of Sports Director at Arsenal.”

“He brought stars like Alexander Isak, Martin Odegaard, David Silva, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi to Real Sociedad.”

With his links to Odegaard and Merino, it would make sense for Olabe to join the Gunners. Additionally, the Gunners have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Zubimendi in the summer transfer window.

Olabe could help Arsenal land their dream £115m transfer target

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Olabe possibly joining Arsenal is that he was instrumental in the recruitment of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with signing Isak, with Newcastle setting a price tag of £115m, meaning that they are unlikely to be able to afford him in January.

However, there is a possibility that the Gunners could sign the Swedish star in the summer transfer window, a task that would be made easier if they signed Olabe.
