Arsenal will consider making a bid for West Ham striker Mohammed Kudus if he is available during the January transfer window, according to TBRSoccer.
The website claims that the Gunners are “interested in signing” the Ghana international as they look to strengthen their options up front.
Kudus does have a release clause in his contract but this can only be triggered at the end of the season.
TBRSoccer report that, if the Hammers were to consider selling him in January, they would ask for a fee approaching £80m.
Kudus received high praise from Guardiola
Speaking in May ahead of Manchester City’s final game against West Ham, manager Pep Guardiola described the Hammers star as an “extraordinary player”.
Kudus then proved it by scoring a spectacular overhead kick but the goal proved to be in vain. As Arsenal fans know well, City went on to win the game 3-1 and seal another Premier League title.
Arsenal will have competition to get the player
The price tag in Kudus may have been too high for Mikel Arteta’s team, but they may have had little luck in trying to negotiate the fee.
The Ghanaian has not had the best season so far, scoring just 2 goals and contributing 2 assists in 12 appearances, but he is still a player in demand.
Both Manchester United and Liverpool have been said to be interested in Kudus recently and, if Arsenal make a formal approach for him in January, this might encourage both clubs to get involved.
It’s also worth noting that Kudus is more of a winger, not a standout striker. Remembering that the Gunners are like that most need a true number 9 playerhe may not be the right fit for what the club is looking for.
